Theft Attempt at Franklin Mall

At 4:44 a.m. on Sept. 4, at least one suspect broke into DaSilva’s Bronco Bar at 1251 Franklin Mall.

According Lieutenant Kurt Clarke of the Santa Clara Police Department, the suspect(s) entered the bar through an “air conditioning duct on the roof. Once inside, they attempted to force entry into an ATM machine.” The suspect(s) were unsuccessful, said Clarke, and fled the scene by forcing open the rear door of the bar.

During the robbery attempt, the suspect(s) damaged the roof, ATM machine, and back door. No property was stolen, but a phone was left at the scene of the crime and the investigation is ongoing.
