Sunnyvale Homicide Suspect Arrested

Erika Towne

Sunnyvale DPS officers arrested 44-year-old Jesus Aguilera in Oakland on June 20 in connection with a May 29 homicide.

Sunnyvale DPS officers have arrested the man connected to the city’s first homicide of 2025. Officers found and arrested 44-year-old Jesus Aguilera in Oakland on Friday, June 20, nearly a month after he was accused of shooting and killing a man on South Wolfe Road in Sunnyvale.

According to investigators, around 7:42 p.m. on May 29, officers responded to a home on South Wolfe Road after reports of multiple gunshots. When they arrived, they found a wounded man outside the home. The officers tried to render medical aid, but the man died at the scene. Aguilera fled before officers arrived.

KTVU reports that the man who died was the boyfriend of Aguilera’s estranged wife. The boyfriend’s family told KTVU that he was protecting his girlfriend from the “deranged” Aguilera, and the family described Aguilera as “controlling” and “possessive.”

“We know that her estranged husband became insanely jealous and went off the deep end,” Mauricio Rezaee, the victim’s brother, told KTVU. “He was stalking them and making death threats against him and other members of my family. We didn’t think it would come to such a horrible ending.”

DPS officers arrested Aguilera without incident and booked him in the Santa Clara County jail on charges of murder. The arrest was assisted by the San Leandro and Oakland police departments.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Sunnyvale DPS Det. E. Rosette at (408) 730-7110.
