The San Francisco 49ers started training camp in mid-July, with veterans reporting to camp on July 25, but just before things got underway, star Fred Warner and some key members of the 49ers front office took some time to thank the men and women who keep Santa Clara safe year-round. On July 23, they spent the day with members of the Santa Clara Fire Department (SCFD).

“We really appreciate what you guys do. Fred [Warner] Keena [Turner], Raheem [Morris], BY [Bryant Young], Guy [McIntyre] – everybody here played in the NFL, and is part of the NFL, but we’re all also part of the community, and what you do is awesome,” said 49ers President of Football Operations and General Manager John Lynch during a visit to the SCFD Training Center.

“You guys put yourself in harm’s way, and I know it’s been a hot summer, so I know you’ve got a lot of work in front of you. We’re very appreciative,” Lynch continued. “I know you service us over at the stadium. And we all live locally, so we really appreciate what you guys do. Everybody, like [Warner’s son] Beau, likes the thought of getting on a fire truck, so we’re excited to see your home and how you operate around here.”

Team executives Lynch and Keena Turner were joined by 49ers legends Bryant Young and Guy McIntyre, as well as coach Raheem Morris and future Hall of Famer Fred Warner.

The firefighters spent time talking with the players and showing them around the facilities and showing off their equipment, such as the station’s ladder truck.

The firefighters took photos with the visitors and received autographs.

While everyone had a good time, perhaps the best time of all was had by Warner’s son Beau. Not only did the 2-year-old receive an SCFD hat, but he also got a special ride in the ladder truck, with the lights flashing, of course.
