Santa Clara’s Northside Police Substation is Now Open

Santa Clarans now have another place where they can interact with Santa Clara’s police officers. The city reopened the Northside Police Substation (NSS) on April 7.

“The NSS re-opening marks a huge win for our northside, and the City as a whole,” said Santa Clara Police Chief Cory Morgan. “With a full team of Community Service Officers, we’re able to restore a vital resource to enhance police accessibility within the community. This flexible start lets us adapt to community needs as we learn how to best use the NSS.”

The Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) says it was recently able to fill vacant Community Service Officers positions, giving the department the personnel to staff the substation without taking officers away from other duties.

SCPD Public Information Officer Lt. Eric Lagergren says that the reopening will not impact services in other parts of the city. The department believes that by having two points of access to police, Santa Clara residents will see lower wait times and offer better departmental efficiency.

Residents can go to the substation to file a police report, get an officer to sign off on a fix-it ticket, pay a parking citation, obtain a vehicle release, pay and/or obtain a repossession or simply get help.

But most importantly, Lagergren says the substation will provide another connection point between the department and the community.

“The department always strives to have a high level of visibility and accessibility to the community,” said Lagergren. “This staffing allows for us to continue to provide high-quality police service to our community with access to the Northside Substation.”

The Northside Police Substation is located at 3992 Rivermark Parkway, at the intersection of Harrigan. It’s near the backend of Rivermark Village.

The substation has limited hours. Currently, it will be open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except on Fridays. The department says it will evaluate the hours and potentially modify them down the road based on the amount of service needed.
