Santa Clara police have arrested a Santa Clara man for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman in a local park with the intent to sexually assault her last month.

On Aug. 4, the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) arrested Marlon Fernando Tziacambrosio, 25, of Santa Clara, according to the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD).

The arrest stems from a July 13 incident. At about 1:30 a.m., SCPD dispatchers received a call of someone yelling for help at Carmichael Park, located at 3445 Benton St. When officers arrived, an unidentified male suspect fled on foot north from the park, jumping over the fence at an adjacent condominium complex on Benton Street.

Despite significant efforts, the suspect eluded police. Upon investigation, “officers located an adult female victim and determined that a sexual assault had occurred,” according to SCPD.

With the assistance of the Santa Clara County Crime Lab and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Identification Unit (SIU), SCPD detectives were able to identify Tziacambrosio as the suspect and obtain an arrest warrant. After conducting surveillance, police subsequently arrested him in Santa Clara.

Tziacambrosio faces charges of kidnapping with the intent to commit a sexual offense and assault with the intent to commit a felony, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

The assault charge alleges that Tziacambrosio assaulted the victim with the “intent to commit rape, sodomy, oral copulation, and digital penetration.” The kidnapping charge alleges he also “did kidnap and carry away [the victim] to commit rape.”

If found guilty, the assault charge could land Tziacambrosio a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. The kidnapping charge carries with it the possibility of two, four or six years in prison.

Police booked Tziacambrosio into the Santa Clara County Jail, 150 W. Hedding St. in San Jose. SCPD thanked the public for its assistance with the investigation.
