Santa Clara Police Report: January 12 – 18

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Drug Possession

Location: 3600 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

An officer observed a bicyclist without the forward and rear facing light/reflector on San Tomas Expressway. The subject proceeded to ride on the sidewalk on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

Upon contact, the male subject consented to a search and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.

Citation

Location: Anna Drive and McCormick Drive

An officer conducted a license plate check on a vehicle traveling on Anna Drive at McCormick Drive. The license plate returned expired, yet the vehicle displayed a current registration tag. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

Upon contact, the male subject admitted to placing the tab on the vehicle. He was arrested.

Warrant Arrest

Location: Pruneridge Avenue and N Winchester Boulevard

An officer observed a female subject smoking a cigarette in a parking lot on the 200 block of N Winchester Boulevard. The subject threw the cigarette on the ground and walked away.

The officer contacted the subject. A Records check revealed the subject had multiple arrest warrants. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Embezzlement

Location: 3700 Block of El Camino Real

An owner of a business on the 3700 block of El Camino Real noticed money missing from the safe and contacted the Police Department to make a theft report.

Through investigation, a possible subject was identified. The subject is an employee of the business and admitted to taking approximately $4,244. The subject returned a portion of the money back to the victim and offered to make payments on the remaining balance. The victim has yet to determine if criminal prosecution is desired.

Robbery Attempt

Location: 2200 Block of El Camino Real

At approximately 1756 hours, an unknown female subject entered a bank on the 2200 block of El Camino Real and showed the teller a demand note, requesting money. The teller did not give the suspect any money. The suspect left the bank and it is unknown if the subject entered a vehicle or fled through another means.

Location: Central Park, 909 Kiely Boulevard

At approximately 2000 hours, an officer detained a male subject in Central Park. The subject was drinking alcohol in public. He was arrested.

Saturday, January 18, 2020

Assault

Location: 2800 Block of Lakeside Drive

Officers were dispatched to a hotel on the 2800 block of Lakeside Drive on the report of a disturbance inside the hotel bar/lobby.

Upon arrival, hotel staff advised they wanted the female subject to leave the property following a large disturbance caused by over consumption of alcohol. Officers detained the subject to transport her to a sobering center and forego criminal charges for public intoxication. Prior to getting into the patrol vehicle, the subject bit a police officer on the inside of the forearm. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
