The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant Arrest
Location: Highway 101 and De La Cruz Boulevard
An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the southbound Highway 101 on-ramp from eastbound De La Cruz Boulevard after observing a vehicle with expired registration. A Records check revealed the male suspect was driving on a suspended driver’s license and without a court ordered ignition interlock device. He also had an active warrant for his arrest. He was cited for the on-view charges and arrested for the warrant before being transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: Pruneridge Avenue at Saratoga Avenue
Two officers were standing outside their partrol vehicles at the corner of San Tomas Expressway and Saratoga Avenue when they heard a blood-curdling scream from inside a vehicle traveling eastbound on Saratoga Avenue from San Tomas Expressway. The officers immediately initiated a traffic enforcement stop near Pruneridge Avenue at Saratoga Avenue. The officers contacted the female driver and explained the reason for the stop. The subject displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and did not satisfactorily perform the standardized field sobriety tests. The female, who was on probation, was arrested for driving under the influence. It was later learned the screams were the driver singing along to the radio.

Fraud
Location: Henry Schmidt Park – 555 Los Padres Boulevard
An officer responded to 555 Los Padres Boulevard (Henry Schmidt Park) on the report of a suspicious circumstance. A male responded to a Craigslist advertisement for a 2009 Acura with 45,000 miles for sale for $14,000. When he asked the seller for his identification, the seller showed him an iPhone photograph of a driver’s license. The suspicious buyer called Public Safety Dispatchers. It was learned, the car was actually a 2007 Acura with over 150,000 miles.
SCPD has investigated nine cases with similar circumstances. It appears, the suspect is purchasing old cars with high mileage, having them detailed, altering the pink slip, rolling back the mileage and selling them for a profit. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Identification Theft
Location: 2900 Block of Barkley Avenue
A victim on the 2900 block of Barkley Avenue was contacted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on 03/10/2017 regarding a fraudulent federal tax return filed in the victim’s name.

Search Warrant
Location: 800 Block of West San Carlos Street, San Jose
SCPD’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Nuisance Suppression Unit (NSU) conducted a search warrant at the residence of a male suspect on searchable probation with outstanding warrants. Despite a San Jose address, the suspect had criminal ties to the City of Santa Clara.
In total, 13 persons were at the residence and arrested for outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, counterfeit money and stolen identifications from Santa Clara residents. All of the arrestees were transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary
Location: 4400 Block of Billings Circle
Between 0200 hours and 0600 hours, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on the 4400 block of Billings Circle and ransacked the kitchen and the laundry room. The suspect(s) stole cash, the victim’s wallet and three sets of keys to the family’s vehicles. The suspect(s) fled the scene in one of the victim’s vehicles. The family was home and sleeping during this incident. This case remains under investigation.

Serving While Intoxicated
Location: 1500 Block of Lafayette Street
Four undercover officers were working a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control grant funded operation at various locations throughout the City. The officers observed the following:
A female bartender at an establishment on the 1500 block of Lafayette Street drank alcohol while working at the bar until the point where she was too intoxicated to care for her own safety. A Records check on a male subject assisting the bartender revealed he had three confirmed misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Assist Outside Agency
Location: Stevens Creek Boulevard and Lawrence Expressway
At approximately 1349 hours, Public Safety Dispatchers were contacted by the San Jose Police Department requesting assistance following a shooting that had just occurred in the area of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Lawrence Expressway. SCPD officers assisted in obtaining witness statements, securing evidence at the scene and with traffic control.

Residential Burglary
Location: 3300 Block of Londonderry Place
Between 0140 hours and 0210 hours, an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s residence on the 3300 block of Londonderry Place. The suspect(s) accessed the victim’s unlocked vehicle to gain entry to the garage using the garage door opener while the victim’s slept. The suspect(s) entered the home through an unlocked door from the garage into the home. The suspect(s) stole a backpack and two bicycles before fleeing the scene.

NOTE: There are several simple steps you can take to prevent this type of residential break-in, including:
- Store your vehicle(s) in your locked garage;
- Do not leave the garage door remote in your vehicle;
- Invest in a keychain garage door remote, as opposed to the visor clip on type;
- Lock the door between your garage and your house;
- Frost or cover your garage windows so thieves cannot see when your vehicle is gone, or what is being stored in your garage;
- Secure your garage door emergency release and/or padlock the throw latch when you are out of town;
- Don’t leave your garage door open; and,
- If you have a house alarm, activate it both when you are home or away.
