Fraud

NOTE: There are several simple steps you can take to prevent this type of residential break-in, including:

  • Store your vehicle(s) in your locked garage;
  • Do not leave the garage door remote in your vehicle;
  • Invest in a keychain garage door remote, as opposed to the visor clip on type;
  • Lock the door between your garage and your house;
  • Frost or cover your garage windows so thieves cannot see when your vehicle is gone, or what is being stored in your garage;
  • Secure your garage door emergency release and/or padlock the throw latch when you are out of town;
  • Don’t leave your garage door open; and,
  • If you have a house alarm, activate it both when you are home or away.
