I moved back to Santa Clara in 2007. I really enjoy your take on the politics here. So much so that I became a paid subscriber rather than relying on free delivery of the paper. I am also disappointed about the current “leadership” of the city. One thing that bugs me is the huge salary of the city manager. I find it hard to believe that a competent experienced city manager could not have been found for about half of that salary. One other thing (I am 72) I think I remember in school was that cities could have a mayor or a city manager. Is it normal to have both ?
