Letters To The Editor

Hello. I am a longtime resident of the Ponderosa Park neighborhood in Sunnyvale. Since September, my neighbors and I have been subjected to the excessively loud, offensive sound of muscle cars with illegal mufflers speeding down Lawrence Expressway between El Camino and 101 throughout the day and night. I am unable to eat, sleep, work from home, carry a conversation, read a book, or even think without being disrupted by the roaring sound of these selfish drivers. It has worsened my everyday functioning to the extent that I been reduced to tears, desperate for relief, and have seriously considered leaving the area entirely. I have reached out to the Sunnyvale and Santa Clara public safety departments and city councils, the county sheriff, and my district supervisor, and so far have not seen any meaningful action taken to address this ongoing public health concern. A desperate citizen

The Santa Clara Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, wishes to thank our wonderful community for supporting the annual Toys for Tots drive on 5 December, 2020 at the Saratoga Senior Center parking lot. With four donation stations, a steady stream of cars popped their trunks to drop off donations. Many stopped to chat with one of the Marines in attendance. By the time the event was over, the truck brought by the Marines was over two-thirds full, and the chapter had collected $1400 in addition to the $1000 donation from chapter members for a total of $2400 to San Jose Toys for Tots. Daughters of the American Revolution is a women's community service organization, promoting education, historic preservation and patriotism. Additional information can be found at dar.org.
