SCPD Helps Raise Funds for Special Olympics

Helping to raise funds for Special Olympics Northern California (SONC), approximately two dozen Santa Clara Police Department officers participated in a Tip-a-Cop fundraiser at Chili’s on Lawrence and El Camino in Santa Clara on March 27.

Officers and SCPD staff members replenished customers’ beverages and bussed tables. In addition to serving as “celebrity waiters,” SCPD had the D.A.R.E. Dodge Challenger at the restaurant, one of the department’s K-9 officers and canine members and the SCPD D.A.R.E. mascot.

SCPD has been involved with SONC since 1995. In addition to Tip-a-Cop events, SCPD has also participated in the Torch Run, dodgeball tournaments, the “Power Pull” at Great America and the annual Special Olympics summer games at UC Davis. Some SCPD members also participate in “Polar Plunge” events as well.
