Santa Clara Police Report: August 18 – 24

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Brandishing a Weapon

Location: 400 Block of El Camino Real
An employee of an apartment complex on the 400 block of El Camino Real observed suspicious activity. It appeared a male subject may be stealing packages. The employee approached the subject and the subject brandished a pocketknife towards the employee before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers were unable to locate the subject.

Drugs – Under the Influence

Location: 1100 Block of Moraga Street
An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Moraga Street to conduct a welfare check.
Two juveniles were located unconscious in the residence. The Santa Clara Fire Department was deployed. When they were awoken, the juveniles admitted to taking Xanax. The juveniles were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Warrant Arrest

Location: 3100 Block of Alfred Street
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding suspicious activity on the 3100 block of Alfred Street.
Upon arrival, two subjects, one male and one female, matching the reporting party’s description were located and detained.
A Records check revealed the female subject had an arrest warrant. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2600 Augustine Drive
A victim noticed their wallet missing from their place of employment on the 2600 block of Augustine Drive.
Through investigation, police learned an unknown suspect entered a secure building by sneaking through an open door. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet and fled the scene. The suspect then used the victim’s credit card to make approximately $3,000 in fraudulent purchases. The suspect remains outstanding and unidentified.

Assist Outside Agency

Location: Kiely Boulevard and Benton Street
The Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team (SCCSET) conducted a traffic stop in the City of Santa Clara which resulted in a foot chase. The Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) helped SCCSET locate and apprehend the suspect.
School safety is always our highest priority. Due to the proximity of this incident and in an abundance of caution, SCDP requested Central Park Elementary and Santa Clara High Schools be put on “Shelter-in-Place” while officers searched for the suspect. The incident was resolved within approximately 10 minutes.
SCPD was in contact with staff at both schools during this incident and applaud their efforts to remain calm and follow the established shelter-in-place protocol while this matter was resolved. All school activity has resumed as normal though you may see increased police presence in the neighborhood while they conclude their investigation.

Residential Burglary

Location: 100 Block of Brookside Avenue
A reporting party observed a burglary in progress on the 100 block of Brookside Avenue and contacted Public Safety Dispatchers.
Responding officers could see a male suspect in the home upon arrival. Officers gave the suspect commands to exit and he did not comply. Police K-9 was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.
He was arrested for burglary, drug related offenses and resisting arrest. He was provided medical treatment at a local hospital prior to being transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary

Location: 500 Block of Giannini Drive
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a prior residential burglary.
Between 1700 and 2100 hours, an unknown suspect(s) entered the backyard through an unsecured gate, used a pry tool to disable the lock on the rear sliding door and entered the home. The suspect(s) stole jewelry valued at approximately $3,600. The suspect(s) are unknown and remain at large.
