Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Drug Arrest

Location: Warburton Avenue and Lawrence Expressway
An officer initiated a vehicle code enforcement stop for not having a working brake light in the areas of Warburton Avenue and Briarwood Drive. The vehicle came to a stop near Lawrence Road and was occupied by four individuals. A Records check was conducted of each individual.

Suspect #1 was identified which revealed she was a convicted felon. She was in possession of a controlled substance, $191.00 cash in multiple denominations, a working scale with heroin residue on it, a pay / owe sheet, green plastic/cellophane for packaging narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.

Suspect #2 provided false identification information and was in possession of multiple controlled substances. Once the individual was identified, a Records check revealed she was on multiple active counts of searchable probation out of Santa Clara County and Stanislaus County. The records check also revealed she had an active bench warrant for her arrest.

Suspect #3 had two active warrants for his arrest out of the San Jose State University Police Department and San Mateo County.

Suspect #4 was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

All four suspects were arrested. Based on the charges, suspects #1, #2 and #3 were transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. The charges against suspect #4 qualified for an arrest, however they did not qualify for taking the suspect into custody. He was issued a citation and released at the scene.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: Winchester Boulevard and Bellomy Street
An officer observed a vehicle driving with no headlights in darkness in the areas of Winchester Boulevard and Bellomy Street. The officer initiated a vehicle code enforcement stop.

The driver displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and admitted to drinking earlier in the night. The suspect failed to perform a series of Standardizedd Field Sobriety Tests as demonstrated. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Sex Registrant Violation

Location: 3200 Block of Benton Street
A transient registered sex offender reported to his probation officer on April 14, 2017. The probation officer suspected the suspect was not transient and conducted surveillance, with assistance from the Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team, over the following few weeks. The investigation confirmed the suspect had a residence in Santa Clara. In addition, the suspect traveled out of the county on two occasions without permission. As a result, the suspect was arrested for failing to register a permanent address. He was arrested for violation of his probation and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Robbery

Location: 2600 Block of El Camino Real
Public Safety Dispatchers summoned police to the 2600 block of El Camino Real on the report of a female suspect passing fake currency to purchase goods. The store manager confiscated the fake money and the suspect became combative with store employees. She ran out of the store with the stolen goods in her purse. The suspect refused all lawful commands, ran from uniformed officers and was pursued through the parking lot area. She threw her purse into a vehicle occupied by three individuals and attempted to flee. The officers prevented the suspects from doing so.

Three female suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Jail and one female juvenile suspect was taken back to her group home where she was reported as a runaway.

Burglary

Location: 3100 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
An unidentified suspect forced entry into a car dealership on the 3100 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. The suspect stole several keys belonging to customer vehicles waiting to be serviced and to new vehicles parked on the lot. The suspect used the keys to steal one vehicle.

Several hours later the suspect returned with a co-suspect. The duo stole another vehicle. The suspects have not been identified or apprehended. This is an active investigation.

Residential Burglary

Location: 700 Block of Harrison Street
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Harrison Street on the report of a residential burglary. While in route, Public Safety Dispatchers relayed a description of the male suspect to the officers. The suspect was detained nearby, positively identified by the victim and arrested.

It was later determined, the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked sliding door and pushed open a bathroom door while the victim was inside. The suspect immediately fled the residence.

Vehicle Theft

Location: The Alameda and Idaho Street
An officer conducted a vehicle code enforcement stop on The Alameda at Idaho Street for a vehicle driving in darkness with its headlamps off. The officer noticed the ignition was punched and the license plate did not match the vehicle identification number. It was determined the vehicle was stolen out of San Jose. The male suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

NOTE: Two groups of protestors gathered at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Winchester Boulevard for a planned demonstration. Both SCPD and the San Jose Police Department deployed resources to ensure the protest remained peaceful.
