Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Petty Theft                                         Location: 2200 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was dispatched to a store on the 2200 block of El Camino Real to investigate a theft. The suspect entered the store and removed two portable speakers that were on the display and fled the store without paying for the items. The total value of the speakers was approximately $270. The suspect is unknown and still at large.

Racers                                               Location: Central Expressway and Scott Boulevard

A Community Service Officer (CSO) observed 10-12 motorcycles driving recklessly, performing stunts and stopping traffic on Central Expressway and Scott Boulevard. The CSO contacted Public Safety Dispatchers.

An officer located the motorcyclists on the 2800 block of Augustine Drive, however the suspects quickly fled the area when they saw the patrol vehicle. The officer was able to detain one of the male suspects. A Records check revealed the registration was expired and the suspect did not have insurance for the vehicle. Further, the suspect had purchased the motorcycle approximately two months prior and had not reported the sale to the Department of Motor Vehicles. He was arrested.

Another officer tried to catch up to another subject who fled, but the female suspect crashed before the officer could catch up with her.  The suspect did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident. She was arrested.

Both motorcycles were impounded.

Violation of Restraining Order     Location:  3000 Block of Kaiser Drive

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Kaiser Drive on a reported case of a violation of a restraining order.

Upon arrival, an officer located the male suspect approximately 100 feet from the protected party’s residence. The suspect was intoxicated. A Records check revealed he had three active grants of probation and is the restrained party in two “No Contact” Criminal Protective Orders. The orders prohibit the suspect from being within 300 feet of the protected persons. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Fraud                                                 Location:  3900 Block of Rivermark Plaza

Victims, residents of Santa Clara, contacted the Police Department to report fraud.

The victims are in the process of purchasing a home out of state. Their real estate agent told them to expect an e-mail from the title company with instructions for wiring funds to close on the home.  The couple received an e-mail from what they believed was the title company with account and routing information for the wire transfer. The victims wired nearly $235,000 to a fraudulent account.

The sending bank was unable to recall the transfer, and the receiving bank was unable to provide the victims with any useful information. Based on the initial investigation, it appears the real estate agent’s email had been hacked. The suspect has not been identified and remains at large.

Petty Theft                                         Location: 600 Block of Park View Drive

An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Park View Drive on the report of a bicycle theft.

The victim’s bicycle was on a second floor balcony on 3/28/18 at 2000 hours. The bicycle was noticed to be missing on 3/29/18 at 0800 hours. The bicycle is estimated to be worth $500. The suspect remains at large.

Warrant Arrest – Felony                 Location:  De La Cruz Boulevard and Highway 101

An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop after witnessing a vehicle with expired registration. A Records check revealed the male suspect had a no bail felony warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Hit and Run                                      Location:  3700 Block of Lafayette Street

Officers responded to the 3700 block of Lafayette Street on the report of a hit-and-run.

Upon arrival, an officer learned two individuals were sitting in the victim’s parked vehicle when it was hit by the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was occupied by two males who fled the scene.

Responding officers located an individual that matched the description of the passenger. The passenger was intoxicated and a minor. This investigation is on-going.
