The married owners and an employee of a Cupertino day spa allegedly operated a busy brothel that raked in an estimated $700,000 per year, prosecutors said on Sept. 17.
The Hummingbird Day Spa, operated since 2022 by Lin Wang, 46, and Xian Wang, 48, of San Jose, allegedly offered sexual services to approximately 30 male sex buyers daily, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
The couple, along with spa employee Rui Wang, 42, of Sunnyvale, were arraigned Thursday on charges that include pimping and pandering, money laundering, and tax and payroll fraud.
“There is no room in our neighborhoods for working brothels,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “There is no room in Santa Clara County for the criminal exploitation of human beings.”
The investigation was headed by Human Trafficking Task Force Detective G. O’Sullivan and Investigator Corinne Abernathy and began in March 2026 after reports of illegal sexual activity from the community.
Prosecutors said evidence shows that the business had a high volume of men entering the establishment over a short period of time each day.
The Wangs are also accused of underreporting payroll by more than $100,000 per year. Profits were funneled through mortgage payments to properties in San Jose and Chino Hills, and through investments, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A forensic financial analysis showed that all three suspects were allegedly engaged in collecting, concealing, and integrating illicit funds to maintain the business, fund personal finances and mortgages, and have been involved in long-term pimping and pandering operations, money laundering, tax irregularities, and payroll fraud.
The suspects were arrested on Sept. 10. Two women who were at the brothel received support services from Community Solutions.

D.A. Jeff Rosen is not being honest about his approach to the sexual exploitation of others. I told Mr. Rosen back in December of 2017 that my kids were being sexually abused. I also told him that the person who was sex trafficking them (Valerie Runyan Houghton) was also sending goons to physically assault me.

I was sure that Mr. Rosen would help me. Instead, he filed charges against ME. I had not even committed a crime.

Once the charges were filed, Mr. Rosen’s deputy raised a doubt to move the matter to competency proceedings. At that point, I refused to undergo a psychological evaluation because Ms. Houghton threatened to tamper with this process. Without ever speaking to my kids, Rosen’s deputy then told a psychologist (Dr. Lyn Mangiameli) that my kids were never sexually abused and that I was never assaulted.

Then, without ever speaking to me or my kids, Dr. Mangiameli wrote a psychological report. He stated that I was “delusional” and that my kids were never sexually abused. Dr. Mangiameli also stated in the report that I was never assaulted. Essentially, this report gave a free pass for the sexual abuse and physical assaults to continue.

Mr. Rosen is just gaslighting the public. He caters more to his political supporters than he does to crime victims or the law. To this day, I am still being stalked and assaulted by Ms. Houghton and my kids have never got a screening. Mr. Rosen does not care, and continues to cover it all up.

The only person in the D.A.’s Office who cared about the sexual exploitation of my children was DDA Daniel Chung. He seemed like an honorable person and knew what was going on, so I asked him for his help. A couple of weeks later, he was fired.

Now the county is fighting several lawsuits from Mr. Chung and Sarah Scofield to bring Mr. Chung back to work. Rosen has hired a private attorney, Jonathan Holtzman, to keep Mr. Chung at home. At least $450,000 was spent on legal fees for Mr. Holtzman. County Counsel has also expended resources and Mr. Chung continues to be paid hundreds of thousands to not work.

Although I have made several complaints regarding Jeff Rosen’s current position with the Wexner Foundation, Mr. Rosen has never denounced this foundation or denied his involvement. Here you can see that D.A. Rosen used the D.A.’s Office’s official social media account in 2020 to promote the Wexner Foundation (after Epstein was arrested a second time). This gave credibility to an organization that was used a front for sex trafficking. Mr. Rosen never deleted this post. You can still see it on Facebook.

Jeff Rosen seems to be an extreme liberal, opposing the three strikes law to keep repeat violent criminals off the streets. It is time for us to elect a replacement, who is more concerned with victims, and less protective of criminals, who, and whose families, typically vote for Democrats. It is time to consider violent criminals as dangerously mentally ill, to keep them in mental hospitals, and to make district attorneys, doctors, and judges, who release them liable for any future criminal behavior. When all the related cost of the present system are added up, including such things as insurance costs that include paying for damage caused by criminals, kind care in mental hospitals is more humane and cheaper.
