A Not-Too-Noteworthy November for Santa Clara City Council

Five City Council Members (Mayor Lisa Gillmor, Kathy Watanabe, Karen Hardy, Teresa O’Neill and Debi Davis) attended the Mission City Community Fund Annual Charity Auction and Dinner Dance and six attended the annual Veterans Day Memorial event (all but Raj Chahal), which kicked off a mostly slow November for most of Santa Clara’s elected officials. Here’s how the month shaped up for the City Council:

Mayor Lisa Gillmor

Gillmor maintained the busiest November calendar. Her first meeting to note occurred on Nov. 6 when she met with Clarence Mamuyac of ELS Architecture and Urban Design and Olympian Dana Vollmer-Grant of ELS Aquatics to discuss the swim center concept. A day later, she met with Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative’s (BAWSI) Jennifer Smith and Sheri Shaner about BAWSI’s programming initiatives. A followup meeting with the pair occurred on Nov. 14. Related Companies’ Ken Himmel, Stephen Ross and Steve Eimer met with the Mayor on Nov. 12 regarding Related Santa Clara. She met with Magical Bridge Foundation’s Jill Asher on Nov. 14 to continue a previous discussion on Magical Bridge.

The Mayor’s November continued by meeting with Santa Clara City Manager Deanna Santana and representatives from Beyond the Fog, Platinum Advisors and In Plain Sight Media to discuss “building wrapping” and “public art” on Nov. 18 and on the 20th she met with St. Clare School Principal Cecile Mantecon about neighborhood noise. An introductory meeting with author Charles Wang occurred on Nov. 22 and the Mayor ended her November by meeting with Bill Witte and Nick Vanderboom of Related Companies to discuss the Tasman East development.

Kathy Watanabe, D1

Watanabe recorded only a single non-public meeting with Kylli Santa Clara Vice President Randi Gerson regarding 3005 Democracy Way on Nov. 18.

Raj Chahal, D2

Chahal had no meetings of note in November.

Karen Hardy, D3

Hardy only recorded an introductory meeting with Silicon Valley Leadership Group Senior Director of Housing and Community Development Vince Rocha on Nov. 7.

Teresa O’Neill, D4

O’Neill’s only non-public meeting or event was on Nov. 6 with Kylli’s Gerson for an update on Mission Point.

Vice Mayor Patrica Mahan, D5

Mahan had two meetings to note in November: one with Planning Commissioner Suds Jain to discuss Santa Clara’s Climate Action Plan on Nov. 8 and another with Mission Trail Waste Systems’ General Manager Yvette Sessions and President Lou Pelligrini to discuss Mission Trail on Nov. 21.

Debi Davis, D6

Davis also had two meetings to note for November. The first was a briefing regarding the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) from Executive Director Nicole Sandkulla and Board Member Barbara Pierce on Nov. 4. The second was with resident Jack Lueder on Nov. 13 with no mention of what was discussed.
