Vintage Baseball World Series Comes to Santa Clara
The 2013 Legends of Base Ball Vintage World Series takes place Aug. 16-18 at historic Washington Park in Santa Clara. On Friday, Aug. 16, a free youth clinic will be held, followed by a charity baseball game. Several former major league players will be participating, including former Giants slugger and 1989 National League MVP Kevin Mitchell. The 19th Century Baseball Tournament will feature four teams turning the clock back over 125 years to take guests back to an old fashioned-style of base ball (the game was originally written as two words), with players wearing knickers, wielding heavy, fat handled bats, catching with web-less mitts no bigger than backyard gardening gloves and abiding by gentlemen’s rules that have faded or been lost over the years. Tickets are just $4 for a full day of fun with the Legends (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Or get an all-event pass to get into all games and festivities for the whole weekend for only $10. Kids 12 and under are FREE! Special Legends and youth t-shirts are available for only $5 with the purchase of tickets (while supplies last). Visit www.VintageWorldSeries.com and www.vintage9.org for more information.
