Santa Clara Sparks Softball Teams Advance to California State Junior Olympics Games

The Santa Clara Sparks 12U girls softball team claimed fourth place out of 25 teams in the ASA Nor Cal Championships at Twin Creeks Sportsplex June 28-29, qualifying for the California State Junior Olympic Games in San Diego, held July 11-13 in San Diego. This is the second consecutive year that the 12U Sparks team has qualified to play in San Diego.

The Santa Clara Sparks 10U girls won the Nor Cal Championship with an undefeated record, going 6-0 en route to the championship and besting 27 other teams. They too qualify for the State Olympic Games. The team: Alisa “Dirt” Bontrager, Alyssa “Gizmo” Butler, Amanda “Waffles” McDowell, Angelina “Peanut” Ruiz, Angelina “Turtle” Trujeque, Cheyenne “Shy Shy” Ruiz, Jessica “Jesse James” Werthman, Karsen “Kar Kar” Ferreira, Layla “Lollipop” Dean, Micheala “Barbie” Biear, Nicole “Nikki” Saulus and Samantha “Sam I Am” Reyes.

The teams are seeking donations to help offset the costs of competing in the California State Junior Olympics Games.
