Santa Clara Police Report: June 7 – 13

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Driving Under the Influence

Location: Monroe Street and San Tomas Expressway

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service involving a male driver that collided with three vehicles causing injuries on Monroe Street at San Tomas Expressway.

Upon officer arrival, a male subject was seen lying on their back in the center divider of Monroe Street. On contact, the subject was determined to be the driver of the vehicle that collided with two vehicles. He displayed objective symptoms of a person under the influence of alcohol. It was unsafe for the subject to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests due to his level of intoxication. He was arrested and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance as a result of the collision before being booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Prowler

Location: 1700 Block of Warburton Avenue

A resident on the 1700 block of Warburton Avenue contacted Public Safety Dispatchers to report a male subject attempting to break into a bedroom window. The subject fled when the resident opened the window blinds.

Based on the reporting party’s description, responding officers located a subject of interest. The victim confirmed the identity of the subject during an in-field line up. He was arrested, transported to the Santa Clara Police Department’s temporary holding facility and released with a Notice to Appear.

Trespassing

Location: 1700 Block of Scott Boulevard

An officer was deployed to the 1700 block of Scott Boulevard on the report of a male subject refusing to leave a residence.

Upon arrival, the subject was standing on the porch of the residence talking to a woman, later determined to be his mother.

A Records check revealed the subject is on probation with a search and seizure terms. A search of his person yielded drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. He was arrested, transported to the Santa Clara Police Department’s temporary holding facility and released with a Notice to Appear.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2500 Block of Newhall Street

An alarm company contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding an alarm notification on the 2500 block of Newhall Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed the front door had been breached by forced entry by an unknown subject(s). The subject(s) had fled the scene prior to officer arrival and is outstanding.

The store owner reported approximately $5,000 worth of lottery tickets were stolen during the incident. In addition, the subject(s) caused approximately $2,000 in damages to the property.

Disturbing the Peace

Location: 2800 Block of Benton Street

Officers were dispatched to a verbal dispute at a business on the 2800 block of Benton Street.

Arriving officers detained a male subject nearby matching the reporting party’s description. A consensual search of his person yielded a controlled substance. He was arrested and issued a Notice to Appear.

Petty Theft

Location: 1600 Block of Coleman Avenue

An unknown subject(s) shoplifted approximately $174.39 in items from a business on the 1600 block of Coleman Avenue. The subject fled the scene prior to police arrival. This investigation is on-going.

Drug Possession

Location: 2300 Block of El Camino Real

An officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle on the south sidewalk on El Camino Real. This is a violation of Santa Clara Municipal Code 12.05.070 and the officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop as a result.

A Records check revealed the subject had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. In addition, he was in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and issued a Notice to Appear.
