Santa Clara Police Report: January 21 – 26

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location:  Stevens Creek Boulevard and N Winchester Boulevard An officer observed a vehicle traveling on Stevens Creek Boulevard with a scraped registration tab. A registration check notified the officer it was expired. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

A Records check revealed the male driver had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary

Location:  2400 Block of Moraine Drive

Victims returned to their residence on the 2400 block of Moraine Drive to find it ransacked and the rear sliding door shattered before calling Public Safety Dispatchers.

Upon officer arrival, the investigation disclosed an unknown suspect(s) kicked the side garage door to gain entry to the garage. The suspect(s) also used an unknown object to break the rear sliding glass door to enter the residence. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Location:  2200 Block of Laurelwood Road

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call from a security guard requesting assistance on the 2200 block of Laurelwood Road.

Upon arrival, officers learned two security guards confronted a male suspect attempting to steal copper from inside the building. The suspect did not comply with the security guards verbal commands, became aggressive toward the security guards and a fight ensued. During the altercation, the suspect struck one of the security guards in the head with a pipe.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival and remains at large. Responding officers provided medical aid.

Assault on an Officer

Location: 5000 Block of Lick Mill Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed an officer to the 5000 block of Lick Mill Boulevard on the report of a male suspect seated in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle who was flush and non-responsive.

An officer arrived to conduct a welfare check. As the officer approached the vehicle, a large quantity of individually packaged controlled substances were visible. The suspect realized the officer discovered the illegal substances and attempted to flee the scene. In doing so, the suspect started the vehicle, ignored officer command and backed up nearly striking the officer. The suspect backed the vehicle with such force it became disabled following contact with the curb. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by the officer.

A search of the vehicle yielded stolen property, personal identifying information, two cell phones, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Lick Mill Boulevard was closed for several hours as a result of this incident.

Drugs – Under the Influence

Location:  3200 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was driving on El Camino Real when a male suspect was witnessed in the number three lane walking in and out of traffic.

The officer made contact with the suspect and observed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence

Location:  San Tomas Expressway and Cabrillo Avenue

An officer responded to a traffic accident on San Tomas Expressway, south of Cabrillo Avenue. A vehicle had collided with several sand filled containers and the center median, causing moderate damage to its left side.

The officer made contact with the male driver. He displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication, admitted to drinking several alcoholic drinks prior to the collision and his blood alcohol content measured 0.176% and 0.182% on a preliminary alcohol screening device. He was arrested and transported to SCPD’s temporary holding facility.

Warrant Arrest

Location:  1600 Hope Drive

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed an officer to the 1600 block of Hope Drive on the report of suspicious activity.

An officer contacted a male subject in a vehicle that matched the description provided from the reporting party. A Record check revealed the subject had three misdemeanor warrants totaling $35,000. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Alcohol

Location: Lafayette Street and Market Street

An officer located a male subject walking on Lafayette Street near Market Street with an open container that appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. As the officer began to make contact with the subject, he disposed of the item on the ground.

The officer confirmed the item was an open alcoholic beverage and asked for the subject’s identification. The subject advised the officer that he did not have any identification on his person but was holding a wallet in his hand. Eventually, the subject provided the officer with his wallet which included two forms of identification, one of which was fraudulent. The subject was under 21 years of age. He was arrested and issued a Notice to Appear.
