Rotary District 5170, which includes the Counties of Santa Clara, Alameda, and Santa Cruz, donated 600 t-shirts to the South Bay Chapter of the Blue Star Moms who provide correspondences and care-packages to U.S. troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. District 5170 found itself in possession of the 600 unsold new t-shirts that were in need of a new home.
Rotary Club of Santa Clara President, Anton Morec, suggested to the Rotary District Governor, Roger Hassler, that the shirts be donated to the Blue Star Moms for distribution to our troops serving in the Middle East. The plan was set into motion and the shirts were donated earlier this week, along with a check from the Santa Clara Rotary Club of $250.00 to help offset the expense of shipping the shirts to their new home.
