Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Vehicle Theft

Location:  3500 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was patrolling on the 3500 block of El Camino Real and conducted a license plate check on an unoccupied U-Haul truck parked in a motel parking lot. The officer learned the vehicle was reported stolen.

Officers set up surveillance on the truck and within a short time a male subject opened the rear roll-up door and began rummaging around in the back. Officers took custody of the subject without further incident.

The subject consented to a search of his motel room. The search yielded two additional subjects, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Drug Possession

Location: El Camino Real and Pierce Street

An officer was driving on El Camino Real at Pierce Street when a male subject known to law enforcement was recognized.

The officer made contact with the subject, initiated a Records check and learned the subject had four misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. The subject turned away from the officer, put his hands up to his mouth and quickly tried to eat something. The officer attempted to detain the subject in handcuffs, however the subject actively resisted. Two additional officers arrived on scene to assist in taking the subject into custody.

A search of his person yielded drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Warrant Arrest

Location:  2500 Block of The Alameda

An officer conducted a vehicle license plate check on the 2500 block of The Alameda and discovered the registration was expired despite the vehicle displaying a current 2019 registration tab. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver and female passenger.

Both parties were identified via their driver licenses. The driver did not have insurance and was issued a citation. A Records check revealed the passenger had three outstanding warrants. She was arrested.

An unknown suspect(s) stole a vehicle on the 5000 block of Lick Mill Boulevard. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 4700 Block of Lafayette Street

At approximately 0029 hours, a business owner on the 4700 block of Lafayette Street received a call from an alarm company regarding a front door activation. The business owner contact Public Safety Dispatchers for a police response.

Upon arrival, the officer observed an unknown suspect(s) used a river rock to break the glass of the main entrance to gain access to the business. The suspect(s) entered the business and broke into the cash register. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect(s) are at large.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Location: Trimble Road and Seaboard Avenue, San Jose

An officer observed a male subject on a bicycle on Trimble Road near Seaboard Avenue. The subject was coming from the rear of a closed business on a bicycle without a white light mounted on the front handle bar, a violation of the California Vehicle Code.

The officer made contact with the subject. The subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.
