Northside Branch Library Celebrates 5-Year Anniversary

Santa Clara City Library’s Northside Branch is celebrating its 5th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 10,10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Northside Library Branch — 695 Moreland Way, Santa Clara — will mark the occasion by expanding operational hours from 50 to 58 hours each week. Beginning Sunday, Aug. 11, the Northside Library will be open for the first time on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and open one hour earlier and close one hour later on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Since the Northside Branch Library opened on Aug. 9, 2014, it has been buzzing with activity,” said Hilary Keith, City Librarian. “We are excited to continue expanding services by offering an additional eight hours weekly for community members to use their library.”

To commemorate the Northside Branch Library’s five-year anniversary and extended hours, the library will host a celebration onsite which will include the following schedule of events:

  • 10 – 10:15 a.m. – Welcome and Recognition of 5-Year Anniversary
  • 10:15 – 11 a.m. – Puppet Arts Theater presents The Three Little Pigs Puppet Show*
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Bay Area Hula Show
  • 12:15 – 1 p.m. – The Bubble Lady*

Following the anniversary celebration, the Santa Clara City Library Foundation and Friends will host its popular $1 book sale in front of the Northside Branch Library on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 1 – 4 p.m. The event offers a wide array of books for sale for all ages.
