Letter from Nolan Vano

We are in an educational crisis. It’s devastating to see how behind our primary school and secondary schools are and it has brought me to wonder what are the causes of this problem. One of the major reasons I have come up with is that teachers are failing to inspire their students to enjoy a topic. Is this their fault? Not necessarily. In my four years attending high school, only one academic field trip was offered to me and many of my classmates. What about other subjects like mathematics, the arts, and even English? How are teachers supposed to inspire their students to enjoy a topic of study when they can’t see it used practically? If we allow more room and budgeting during the school year for field trips, I believe that we will see a naturally more curious generation of students filling the halls of our schools.
