Dear Andrew Montgomery,
It probably will not mean much coming from an average member of humanity, but regardless, thank you for giving up what you have and could have had to go to Kabul and serve our country, even going so far as to genuinely treat it as a privilege and disregarding the dangers that may befall you. It is a great honor to have citizens in America such as you who can do what ordinary people can’t by sacrificing their futures to make our country a better place. We normal people can’t even bring ourselves to imagine what it would be like to stand in your shoes, much less actually make the big decision to enlist ourselves. That takes a lot of willpower, and we will be eternally grateful for what you and others have done for our country.
