Power To Your Voice

Former Apple Executive to Speak in Santa Clara

Jay Elliot, a former Senior VP of Apple under Steve Jobs and author of Leading Apple with Steve Jobs, will speak on how managers can learn from Jobs about motivating people to do the best work of their lives at the Santa Clara Convention Center on November 7.

Elliot was hired personally by Jobs, just in time to accompany him on the last of his historic visits to Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center – the visits that changed the course of computing. As Senior VP of Apple, Elliot served as Jobs’ right-hand man and troubleshooter, overseeing all corporate operations, business planning, software development and HR.

In his book, Elliot details how Jobs managed and motivated his people. He explains how every manger can learn from Jobs and motivate their employees to do the best work of their lives.

Attendees will learn how to find talented people who understand the company’s objectives and can contribute to that effort; list traits that can determine whether a person will be so committed to the vision that they provide their own motivation; explain how to ensure your employees hold an allegiance to the captain and their shipmates; shift your thought paradigm; and inspire you to assemble and lead innovative teams.

The event, part of Mission College’s MC2IT Speaker series, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at the Santa Clara Convention center’s Theatre Room. Books will be available for signing and purchase at the event, which is sponsored by the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and Mission College MC2IT.
