Pruneridge Avenue Public Meeting- Wednesday, August 24th, 6:30-7:30pm: The City of Santa Clara is holding a follow-up meeting for the Pruneridge Avenue Neighborhood. The goal of this meeting is to discuss bicycle lanes and safety concerns along Pruneridge Avenue from the City of Cupertino city limit to Pomeroy Avenue. Questions? Northside Bombay Jam- Saturday, August 27th, 10:15-11:00am: Bombay Jam is a total body workout that infuses Bollywood dance moves with cardio and toning for a total body workout. Learn from Certified Bollywood Jam Instructor, Ella Felix, how to twist, turn and shake it. This program is a 45-minute workout and will be hosted in the front of Northside Branch Library 695 Moreland Way, Santa Clara. Santa Clara Library suggests you wear and bring: athletic clothing and shoes, a water bottle, towel and sunscreen. For adults 18 and above.

Emergency Preparedness Training- Tuesday, August 30th, 6-9pm: Most experts agree that the Bay Area is at high risk for disasters. The Santa Clara Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides 21 hours of classroom and hands-on training to help you prepare for a disaster. Classes are: Tuesday, August 30th, 6-9pm Emergency Preparedness; Thursday, September 1st, 6-9pm Fire Extinguishers, Utilities, Hazmat; Tuesday, September 6th, 6-9pm Disaster Medicine Part 1; Thursday, September 8th, 6-9pm Disaster Medicine Part 2; Tuesday, September 13th, 6-9pm Search and Rescue; and Saturday, September 17th, 9am-4pm Disaster Stimulation, Psychology, Terrorism. All classes will be held at the Santa Clara Fire Department Training Center at 1900 Walsh Avenue, Santa Clara. A fee of $25 per person is required to cover class materials. Willy Wonka Auditions: Roberta Jones Junior Theatre begins our 48th Anniversary Season with “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka!” The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Everyone, ages 8-18, who auditions will be cast in the show. Auditions will be in the Mary Louise Mello Auditorium, at the Community Recreation Center, 969 Kiely Blvd. in Santa Clara, from 3:30-6:30PM. Performances will be October 28-November 6, Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 2pm. Tickets go on sale at www.RJJT.org, or in person at the Community Recreation Center, starting August 29.
