Postal Annex+ Grand Opening at Santa Clara Town Centre

Postal Annex+ Grand Opening at Santa Clara Town Centre

The Grand Opening of the Postal Annex+ Service Center at Santa Clara Town Centre was a red ribbon event, complete with refreshments and balloons. On September 25th at 5:30 p.m., Santa Clara Mayor Jamie L. Matthews cut the ribbon and officially welcomed franchise owners Thomas W. Hector Jr. and Margherita Scoglio to the business community.

“Welcome to Santa Clara! This is really the center of the community here,” said Matthews, addressing the well wishers—members of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce, friends, family and customers—assembled at the renovated and re-energized Town Centre on El Camino Real at Scott Blvd.

Matthews pointed out that the Postal Annex+, “a friendly, family-run business,” was one of twelve thousand small businesses in Santa Clara that are “the backbone of our community.”

“We are very excited to be serving the town of Santa Clara,” said Scoglio. “We wanted this Santa Clara location and waited until the Town Centre was ready and the store was available to start our business.”

Hector Jr.’s father, Thomas W. Hector Sr., flew in from Pittsburgh, PA, for the grand opening.

“I’m super proud of them. They are fine, reliable people, and they’ll do a fantastic job,” said Hector Sr., who said that his son has always been an entrepreneur.

As a child, Hector Jr. had the traditional American newspaper route and lemonade stand in Pittsburgh. While studying at the University of Vermont, he started a laundry service for students. Later, serving in the Navy in Honolulu, HA, he opened an outdoor BBQ stand.

After the Navy, Hector Jr. got an MBA at Pepperdine University, and he now works in quality engineering for NASA. The Postal Annex+, Hector Jr.’s first brick and mortar business, will be operated and managed by his wife, who was born and raised in Italy.

Scoglio has a degree in foreign languages and can assist customers in Italian, Spanish, German, French and, of course, English. She has a background in hospitality; having worked on cruise ships around the world and resorts in Italy, Egypt and Hawaii.

“I love sharing my travelling memories with everyone who thinks the world is such an amazing place we all have the luck to share” said Scoglio. The Mountain View couple have two children, Marisol and Tommaso, who were also present at the grand opening.

The Postal Annex+ Service Center (www.postalannex.com/14024) is at 2010 El Camino Real, (408) 247-0139. It first opened its doors last June, offering both typical and less common services: comparative shopping for the best shipping prices, wine shipping, key cutting, Live Scan finger printing (no ink!), notary, passport photos for all countries, mailbox rentals, vacation mailbox rentals, packaging, copying, faxing, Ebusiness, office supplies and greeting cards.
