Who would bother to pay money to watch and listen to a musical group which hit the headlines 40 years ago? The answer to that was the sold out show for AC/DC last Wednesday night.

Levi’s Stadium literally rocked for two hours as 50,000 fans showed they still loved and remembered the high-energy music and performers.

What a show. What an audience. What an incredible venue.

I kept thinking as I watched the show and the 50,000 fans that Santa Clara is absolutely fortunate to have and own a fabulous facility like Levi’s.

It was fun to think back more than 15 years ago as so many of our residents spent hours and days trying to convince voters a stadium would be terrific for Santa Clara.

Now, our stadium brings Santa Clara national and international recognition as FIFA World Cup members competed there only a few weeks ago. No, it wasn’t San Francisco, Oakland or even San Jose. While referred to as the Bay Area Stadium, millions knew it was Santa Clara.

There is another bonus which radiates from Levi’s. There are hundreds of workers employed who do everything from directing traffic, working food booths, cooking, ushering and a dozen other tasks.

It is virtually impossible to count the thousands of jobs and the millions in revenue that flow into Santa Clara because we house one of the greatest venues in America.

The anti-stadium caucus in Santa Clara has now been proven wrong a million times over. Yet, there is a little faction of holdouts who just hate to be wrong. Even if they are proven wrong a million times over, based on FANtastic results.

This week the National Football League kicks off the preseason for the most-watched sport in America. Seventy thousand fans will make their way to Levi’s, bringing with them their wallets and leaving behind millions of dollars for food, drink, parking and entrance fees.

Folks, anyone who does not understand the phenomenal value of Santa Clara’s Stadium is living in an alternative universe.

This includes any candidate for mayor, notably one candidate. That would be anti-stadium zealot Kathy Watanabe.

Folks, it’s pretty simple. You just can’t ride a dead horse.

We voted, we approved and we support our billion-dollar money machine and will continue to do so. The naysayers have lost.

There is no future in holding onto a negative attitude when our Santa Clara residents, the voters, have made their decision.
