The Wutzit Club Alumni Committee (Vivian Burgos Martin, Domenica Talia Morrissey, John P. Silva and myself Ray Gamma) wish to express our sincere thanks to the 150-plus former Wutzit Club members and friends who attended our Committee’s ninth Fundraiser Dinner/Dance held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Santa Clara American Legion Post 419. Besides a gala evening of dancing to the “Music at its Best” by the “Sparkletones,” from Aptos, CA, the event also included a great dinner provided by John Nguyen’s Golden Harvest Catering from San Jose.
The net proceeds from our gala dinner/dance, together with funds donated directly to our ninth fundraiser from supporters who could not attend, totaled $3,040. All proceeds from our fundraisers go to support youth activities at the City of Santa Clara’s Walter E. Schmidt Youth Activity Center. Our total contribution to date has now reached $28,125.
Again, our most sincere thanks to all of you who have supported our cause these past years. We do this not only for the children of the City of Santa Clara, but most importantly, in honor of our benefactor, the late Father Walter E. Schmidt, Director of the Wutzit Club and the Santa Clara Valley Youth Village, Inc. from 1944 to 1985.
