Re: Senior Tax Exemption June 20, 2012 issue

Perhaps unintentional, but the statement “Though voters overwhelmingly supported …” seemed an inappropriate lead for an article intended to help seniors file for an exemption. I am also puzzled that supporters of the measure only had to say yes once, while seniors are required to register for an exemption five times. While voting ballots can be mailed in, seniors are required to arrange for transportation and personally appear with their request for an exemption each year – in spite of the fact that the significant information required (such as name, signature, date of birth, and APN number) can hardly be expected to change.
