Your analysis of the housing mess is dead-on (today’s editorial). I can remember loan officers trying to sign me up for a 3% stated income load even after I told them there was no way I could make the payments. Their response to me was that I would only have to make them for a few years until the house appreciated, and then I could refinance. I asked them, “What if the house does not appreciate? “ It was all about closing the loan. Regarding Barney Frank, I am of the opinion that he is the personification of many things that are wrong with this country.
