I was happy to see that the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) responded to your timely July 2, 2019, article on the car burglary epidemic in our city by providing you with a list of the things the SCPD is doing which you published in your August 7, 2019, edition. At the top of that list were four public education efforts. At the bottom were high visibility patrols and undercover operations. The SCPD needs to quickly prioritize its patrols and, more importantly, its undercover operations and Jeff Rosen, our District Attorney, needs to make stinging public examples of those the SCPD apprehends if we are ever going to end this vicious plague of car invasions. As they say, talk is cheap, it is results that matter.
