49ers Owner John Edward “Jed” York has entered a plea of “no contest” to two misdemeanor charges after a weekend arrest. Police arrested York on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio. Early Monday morning, he entered his pleas before a judge in Columbiana County Court.

According to court records, police in East Palestine arrested York on Aug. 23. He was charged with “Disorderly Conduct 2917.11” and one count of “Possessing Criminal Tools 2923.24.” Under the Ohio Revised Code, possessing criminal tools can be “… any substance, device, instrument, or article, with purpose to use it criminally.” According to NBC Bay Area, the “criminal tool” was a cellphone.

Court records show that York paid $1,335 in fines and court fees, including a request to have the incident expunged from his record.

According to a statement from the NFL released to multiple media outlets, “We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.”

The 46-year-old York is the current CEO of the 49ers and the co-owner of the Premier League soccer club Leeds United and the Scottish Premiership soccer club Rangers.

He became 49ers CEO in 2008. York became the principal owner of the 49ers in 2024, when he purchased shares from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York.
