2024 Sunset Cinema Lineup Released

The City of Santa Clara has released the lineup for this year’s Sunset Cinema series. From now through October, the City will host outdoor movie nights at various parks throughout the City. The events are all free and offer families a chance to gather together to enjoy a kids’ movie together.

The City encourages families to bring lawn chairs, cozy blankets, movie munchies and more for the movie nights under the stars. An inflatable screen will allow for great viewing areas from around the park.

All of the movies start around sunset, but you’re encouraged to arrive early to secure the best spot. The City encourages carpooling or using alternative transportation options because parking can be limited around some of the locations.

The first movie of the series happened on April 12 at Henry Schmidt Park on Los Padres Boulevard.

May 10 – Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie

The second film happens tonight at Montague Park at 3595 MacGregor Lane in Santa Clara.

In Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, the pups of the Paw Patrol must learn to navigate the super powers they suddenly get when a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City. Chase, Rocky, Skye, Marshall and the rest of the gang must work together to form The Mighty Pups.

Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie stars the voice talents of Kristen Bell, James Marsden and Taraji P. Henson. It is rated PG.

Movies begin around sunset. Due to limited parking availability, consider carpooling or using alternative transportation options to make the most of your movie night adventure.

July 19 – Kung Fu Panda 4

Jack Black is back as Po. This time, Po is tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, but in order to take the role, he must find and train a new Dragon Warrior. Meanwhile, a wicked sorceress feels like this is the perfect time to bring back all the master villains that Po has vanquished to the spirit realm. Kung Fu Panda 4 features a star-studded cast that includes Black, Awkwafina, Bryan Cranston, James Hong, Viola Davis and Dustin Hoffman. It is rated PG.

The movie will be shown on July 19 at Maywood Park located at 3330 Pruneridge Ave. in Santa Clara.

Aug. 9 – Wish

In August, Disney’s Wish will debut at Central Park at 909 Kiely Blvd. in Santa Clara.

Wish stars young Asha, who wishes on a star and gets a more direct answer than she bargained for. Instead of getting her wish granted, a trouble-making star comes down from the sky to join her and help her. Wish is rated PG.

Oct. 4 – Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Wrapping up the summer movie series is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Just in time for Halloween, the Ghostbusters are back in action.
