To Whom It May Concern: I watched the City Council meeting tonight (1/12) and saw that JLL/Dan Fenton was being discussed. The council members who spoke on this issue are right to not renew his contract. He gave false numbers and promises in San Jose, and he's doing in again in Santa Clara. Mayor Gillmor's comment was that he did that in San Jose, but "this is Santa Clara." Does that mean you just ignore his previous record of mismanagement. Furthermore, shouldn't the city's new destination marketing organization (DMO) be responsible for "tourism promotion" - not a City hired consultant. It's more than wasteful spending to keep giving this consultant hundreds of thousands of dollars that could be used to market and promote the city after Covid-19. In fact, the only one in the hospitality community whose made money since 2018 (over $500k) is JLL and Mr. Fenton. In my

I must say I was very disappointed in the Dec. 23rdedition of The Weekly.  Why did the front page not say MERRY CHRISTMAS but “Happy Holidays” instead?  In Nov. we heard of Diwali and a few weeks ago of Kwanzaa, yet it seems that “Christmas” has become something that can no longer be shouted from the rooftops let alone mentioned in a local publication!  (With the exception of Mr. Barber’s brief mention of it.) Christmas is a wonderful celebration of the birth of Jesus.  The one who sacrificed His life to reconcile all of mankind to God.  Christianity is not for a select few but for anyone who will accept the free gift of salvation, the promise of eternal life and permanent reconciliation with God.  This is why gifts are exchanged on Christmas – to remind us of the greatest gift ever given.  Jesus Christ.  God wants to give you Jesus too. God wants to have a

I’ve lived in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino for almost 50 years. When my family first immigrated to the U.S. from South Korea the racism was of a different nature. It was the type where we were looked upon, and treated, like second class people - notice I did not use citizen. Even today Asian Americans are viewed as foreigners. Today’s racism seems to be born out of fear; that the minorities are taking over “our” home. Just read the comments. I don’t condone their actions, but I do understand the fear. Imagine having been the oppressors and now feeling like the tables are turning and that the oppressed will become the oppressors. It must be terrifying! It is my view, however, that if the knee is taken off the neck and the oppressed helped up, we will ALL benefit and live a more harmonious life. I’m not saying it’ll
