Santa Clara Opens Levi’s Stadium to the Community on Feb. 28

Erika Towne

Santa Clara opens up Levi's Stadium to city residents on Feb. 28 for a day on the field, filled with music, games and fun.

For the first time ever, Santa Clara is opening Levi’s Stadium for a free community event. On Feb. 28, Celebrate Santa Clara will allow Santa Clara residents to party at Levi’s Stadium. With DJs, games and free 49ers museum tours, attendees will get to experience Levi’s Stadium like never before.

“This is truly a first-of-its-kind experience for our community. For the first time, residents can step onto the field at Levi’s Stadium – the site of Super Bowl LX – free of charge,” said City Manager Jovan Grogan. “As we prepare to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this event reflects our commitment to community engagement, and it gives our residents a chance to be part of this exciting moment for our city.”

The stadium opens at noon on Saturday. Things start with youth soccer and flag football games on the field. Around 2 p.m., Santa Clara’s police and fire departments go head-to-head in a soccer shootout showdown.

After that, the field opens for phased entry to the community, with putt-putt golf and other field games. Fans will also get to take photos on the field, where the Super Bowl LX logos are still in place.

While music will play in the background throughout the day, in the evening, a DJ will set up on the field for a glow-light dance party.

“This will be a historic day for our residents, where they will be able to enjoy a variety of activities, games, art and music in our very own stadium. Celebrate Santa Clara is our way of saying thank you and inviting everyone to be part of this extraordinary chapter in our city’s story. We encourage residents to reserve their free tickets and join us on February 28 for a day that truly embodies our 2026 spirit: Where the Mission Meets the Moment.”

Inside Levi’s Stadium, the concourse concession stands will be open with plenty of food options for purchase, as well as beer and wine. Outside food will not be allowed. The 49ers Museum will also be open for a few hours, offering free museum tours.

“Celebrate Santa Clara: A Day on the Field” runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. It is free for Santa Clara residents. For more information, visit the city’s website at SantaClaraCA.gov/FieldDay.

There, you can reserve your free tickets for the event, purchase parking for $11.75/vehicle and find out everything you need to know before you go.

  1. This is a pretty cool event. The sad thing is it only took us 15 years to finally do something of benefit to the community.
But let’s make sure we’re not on the hook for field/turf replacement costs that are burdened by the Super Bowl. The 49ers will come and say “well the community day caused damage to the fields so we will spend Stadium Authority money (which would have otherwise gone to the General Fund) to repair the field” and then after some objection they’ll concede with splitting the costs 50/50 due to the Super Bowl and Community Day having equal reason for the field to be replaced. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. The 49ers should bear the entire cost of any field replacement or improvement. Kids playing football and soccer on the field – AFTER the Super Bowl already tore it up – is not the reason the field needs to be repaired or replaced.

  2. Very cool!

Santa Clara is perhaps the only city with a big stadium and a relatively small population.

    Party in our private stadium!

That’s the spirit I would like to see Santa Clara embrace more and more.

    Great start!

    Thank you!

  3. SAVE Great America; the 49ers seem obsessed with closing this beautiful property and doing everything possible to degrade, limit accessibility and close this treasured landmark family park. Instead, why doesn’t the City – who sold voters wishes out by selling the property (which was meant to be PRESERVED) figure out a way for the theme park to THRIVE alongside the stadium instead of forcing families to decide one or the other. What kind of graft was involved. Voters decades ago DECIDED OVERWHELMINGLY to save the theme park. Investigations of fraud should be conducted immediately. There is more here than meets the eye…

    • I don’t believe it’s the 49ers, the area is “used” at different times of the year. The “potential” buyer (buyers?) doesn’t seem to be interested in the NFL, at least today.
