Congratulations to Mayor Gillmor for leading our city to victory in the arbitration proceeding in which the 49ers were seeking to substantially reduce their rent for the Stadium. As a result of this timely victory our city will save somewhere between 10 and 180 million dollars over the next forty years. Mayor Gillmor’s decisive actions in this regard remind me of what President Lincoln once said about his most successful general during the Civil War (General Grant)–“I like him. He fights.” Now that our city and the 49ers have arrived at the Appomattox of this matter, perhaps, in the spirit of President Lincoln, we can all work together, “with malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right,” and maximize the bounteous benefits which we can all receive from the Stadium.

The developer, Lamb Partners (Randy Lamb – Atherton Planning Commissioner) started to purchase the two single family homes along Monroe, 906 Monroe St. and 930 Monroe St. in Feb 2019 and Sep 2019 respectively. Santa Clara is the ONLY city in the entire State of California to have an elected Chief of Police. I contend that Santa Clarans don’t actually have a choice in selecting their Chief of Police.
