When I recently learned that Save Mart Supermarket in Moon Lite Shopping Center was closing, I was in disbelief. How could such a well-used business in a neighborhood with an ever-growing number of apartment complexes be closing! I wrote to the City Council and the Planning Commission to express my concern and frustration over the closure of this grocery store. I was impressed and very pleased that Mayor Gillmor wrote back to me immediately expressing her concern as well. I would like to thank her for her thoughtfulness in replying personally to my email. With the proliferation of dense housing on El Camino, it’s common sense that residents of these complexes should have a grocery store that they can walk to. The owner of the shopping center and the City Government have an obligation to ensure that a grocery store is found as quickly as possible to replace Save Mart.

If you support such a committee you are setting ... Read more
