The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant – Felony
Location: 200 Block of Brokaw Road
An officer observed a male subject actively reaching into a dumpster to the rear of a closed business on the 200 block of Brokaw Road.
The officer contacted the subject. The subject provided a false name. A Records check helped the officer identify the subject and revealed he was on parole and had a warrant. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary
Location: 1400 Block of Fremont Street
A reporting party contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding an unknown female subject exhibiting bizarre behavior located inside the reporting party’s residence. After multiple requests, the subject left the residence and was last seen running through Fremont Park.
Upon arrival, officers located a female suspect matching the reporting party’s description in a nearby yard on the 1400 block of Harrison Street. The suspect was given multiple commands, disregarded the orders and moved toward the front door of a second residence. A Police K-9 was deployed to apprehend the suspect before she could enter a second residence. A Records check revealed numerous prior arrests, including multiple arrests for resisting police officers and battery on police officers.
The subject was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

NOTE: Between 9/6/19 – 9/9/19, 33 automobile burglaries occurred, primarily along Lawrence Expressway, Stevens Creek Boulevard and Highway 101. Combatting automobile burglaries is a priority for the Santa Clara Police Department.
Suspects frequently look for bags (e.g. purse, laptop bag, backpacks, gym duffle, luggage) that may contain electronics or other valuables. Criminals also target rental vehicles. The suspects will usually shatter a window to reach inside and grab items in plain view. An auto burglary only takes a few seconds to commit. You can help by:
- Parking in well-lit areas
- Always locking your vehicle
- Not leaving ANY valuables (e.g. loose change, GPS, gym bag, purse/wallet, charging cords, garage remote, or sunglasses) in your vehicle or in your trunk. Suspects have been known to break windows, fold the back seat, and access trunks
- Reporting suspicious activity by calling 408-615-5580. In-progress incidents should be reported by calling 9-1-1. Do NOT confront suspects. Instead, be a good witness.

Suspicious Circumstances
Location: 2100 Block of San Antonio Place
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call from a male subject stating a shooting had occurred.
Multiple officers responded to the 2100 block of San Antonio Place with an armored rescue vehicle. While establishing a perimeter around the residence, a male subject came out of the home and was detained. He indicated his family was inside the home, unharmed. Officers phoned the residence, spoke with an adult female. The adult female and two juveniles exited the residence.
For precautionary measures, officers entered the home and confirmed all parties were safe and no gunshots occurred. The family was escorted back into their residence and given a detailed explanation of what had occurred.
Through investigation, it was determined this was a swatting call. The case is similar to an 8/14/19 incident in Santa Clara (Case Number 19-0815007). The Investigations Division is conducting follow-up.

Robbery
Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
A victim was contacted by a male subject in a parking lot on the 2000 block of El Camino Real. The subject asked for money for gas and provided the victim with some jewelry in exchange for cash. The victim withdrew $600 in cash. The suspect grabbed the money and fled the scene.

Strong-Arm Robbery
Location: 900 Block of Kiely Boulevard
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred.
A victim was approached from behind while on a walk. A male suspect snatched a gold chain from the victim’s neck and fled the scene. The suspect remains at large.

Fraud
Location: Police Building, 601 El Camino Real
A real estate investor (victim) received posts from a private investor (suspect) on a private Facebook group.
The male suspect claimed he wanted to help the victim with investments. In doing so, the suspect agreed to pay off the victim’s credit cards. The suspect asked for a picture of the front and back of the victim’s credit card, as well as the credit card website login information including password. The victim complied with the requested information. The suspect paid off approximately $500 in debt on the victim’s credit card.
The suspect then started sending the victim money to bank accounts using ACH transfers. The victim withdrew the money and sent it to the suspect using Bitcoin. After doing these transactions multiple times over several weeks, the victim was notified the transfers were fraudulent. The victim estimates the loss at approximately $60,000. The suspect is unknown and at large.

Drunk in Public
Location: 2600 Block of French Street
An officer responded to the 2600 block of French Street on the report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a male subject outside a residence. The subject displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. It was determined he was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to SCPD’s temporary holding facility.
