Santa Clara Police Report: September 15 – 21

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Strong-Arm Robbery / Vehicle Pursuit

Location:    3700 Block of El Camino Real

Two subjects, one female and one male, entered a business on the 3700 block of El Camino Real. The subjects filled a shopping cart with merchandise, made no attempt to pay for the items and ran out of the store. The subjects quickly loaded the items into a motorhome while a store employee attempted to stop the subjects. One of the subjects attempted to punch the employee and made threats of violence against the employee. The female subject fled on foot and the male subject got into the motorhome with a second female subject and fled the scene.

The motorhome was located by responding officers on Lawrence Expressway near Benton Street. An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop, however, the driver failed to yield. After a pursuit, the driver was taken into custody without incident. The stolen property, valued at approximately $700, was in the vehicle.

A Records check revealed the female subject was on Post Release Community Supervision. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. The two other suspects are outstanding.

Resisting / Obstructing

Location:  El Camino Real and Lawrence Expressway

An officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle on the sidewalk on El Camino Real. The officer initiated an enforcement stop and the subject began peddling vigorously to evade the officer.

The subject fell off the bicycle on Lawrence Expressway, threw a backpack in nearby bushes and fled on foot. The subject disobeyed the officer’s commands and was tackled in a parking lot. The subject was uninjured but due to shortness of breath, the Santa Clara Fire Department was contacted for medical evaluation. The subject declined medical assistance.

A Records check revealed the subject was on California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation Parole and is a sex registrant. He was also in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Information Report

Location: 1300 Block of Calabazas Court

A reporting party notified Public Safety Dispatchers two gunshots were heard and the muzzle flash was witnessed on the 1300 block of Calabazas Court.

Multiple units responded, including the armored rescue vehicle. Officers canvassed the area for evidence of gunshots, spoke with residents and watched video footage. There was no evidence of gunshots. Fireworks may have been the cause of the noise.

Indecent Exposure

Location:  2902 Miles Drive, Central Park Annex

On 9/17/19 at approximately 0930 hours, a victim was walking a dog in Central Park Annex when a male subject was observed walking, acting in an aggressive manner and carrying bags in his hands. As the subject neared the victim, he set his bags down near a tree and began masturbating while looking directly at the victim. The victim left the park.

On 9/18/19, Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a person matching the description of the suspect from indecent exposure call the previous day. Upon arrival, officers found and detained the suspect. The victim from 9/17/19 was contacted and identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Traffic Accident – Minor Injury

Location:  Stevens Creek Boulevard and Woodhams Road

Officers responded to a collision involving nine vehicles at the intersection of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Woodhams Road. There were several people injured as a result of the collision and several vehicles were towed from the scene. The normal flow of traffic was interrupted while emergency personnel were on scene.

Residential Burglary

Location: 3100 Block of Cabrillo Avenue

On 9/20/19, a victim reported a burglary of the storage shed in the backyard of a residence on the 3100 block of Cabrillo Avenue. The burglary took place between 9/14/19 – 9/18/19 and included the loss of power tools valued at approximately $225.  The suspect(s) remain at large.

Traffic Accident – Major Injury

Location:  Lawrence Expressway and Pruneridge Avenue

A traffic collision involving two vehicles took place in the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Pruneridge Avenue. Five people were transported to the hospital with various injuries. The roadway was impacted while emergency personnel were on scene.
