Sunnyvale DPS is still investigating and has not named any suspects or motive at this time. If you have any information about this incident, please contact Det. T. Shillito at (408) 730-7110.

This is the first homicide in Sunnyvale for 2024.

Last year, Sunnyvale DPS officers investigated a murder-suicide.

In October 2023, officers say Marvin Churchill shot two women who were inside a vehicle on Karameos Drive. One of the women died from her injuries. When officers arrived on the scene, Churchill had already fled.

Investigators found Churchill’s vehicle shortly after the shooting and tried to stop it, but he evaded him. They followed him into Cupertino but lost sight of the vehicle in the neighboring city.

About an hour later, Churchill’s vehicle was found in another part of Santa Clara County on Stevens Canyon Road. Churchill’s body was inside the vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Prior to the 2023 murder-suicide, Sunnyvale officers had not investigated a homicide since 2021.
