Police Blotter

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Residential Burglary

Location: 2200 Block of Monroe Street
At approximately 1331 hours, a reporting party witnessed a residential burglary on the 2200 block of Monroe Street. A male suspect was observed taking a laptop from an apartment window. Officers located a suspect matching the reporting party’s description on Cabrillo Avenue. The suspect had the laptop hidden under his jacket. He was also in possession of burglary tools. A Records check revealed the suspect had outstanding felony warrants and was also on active probation. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

NOTE: Due to the high winds and heavy rain, SCPD responded to seven (7) tree down calls and sixteen (16) alarm calls scattered throughout the city. SCPD also responded to several suspicious persons calls, which were all determined to be tree branches brushing against reporting parties’ homes.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location: Agnew Road and Garrity Way
An officer observed a vehicle without a rear paper license plate and could not see any registration paperwork in the vehicle’s window. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop and contacted the two occupants of the vehicle. A Records check of the male driver revealed the vehicle registration was expired, the suspect had a felony no bail warrant and was on two active grants of searchable probation. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and shaved keys. The records check also indicated the passenger had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vehicle Theft

Location: 3900 Block of Rivermark Plaza
An officer observed a motorcycle backed into a parking stall on the 3900 block of Rivermark Plaza. The officer ran the license plate and it returned to a different motorcycle make. The officer made contact with a male subject when he returned to the motorcycle. A Records check revealed he was on Post Release Community Supervision, had an outstanding felony PRCS violation warrant and an outstanding probation violation warrant. He was also in possession of a collapsible baton concealed inside his sweatshirt and a controlled substance. The motorcycle was stolen as well.

The suspect contemplated running from the officer when he heard the return on the radio and had to be taken to the ground when he resisted arrest by the officer. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Car Clout

Location: 3200 Block of Mission College Boulevard
An officer responded to the 3200 block of Mission College Boulevard regarding a suspicious vehicle. The witness went into a store and reported to staff that they observed a vehicle driving up and down the parking lot aisles, occupied by three males and one female, looking into cars.

The responding officer was flagged down by an individual on their way to this call. The individual (victim) reported that someone had smashed the window on their car. The victim could not tell what was missing from the vehicle, but estimated it would cost approximately $150 to repair the passenger side window. Officers searched the area with negative results. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Vehicle Recovery

Location: 2600 Block of The Alameda
Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of The Alameda to investigate a suspicious person getting in and out of a parked vehicle. A registration check revealed the car was reported stolen by the California Highway Patrol. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with the male suspect inside. A Records check revealed the suspect was on probation. A search of the vehicle yielded used hypodermic needles and narcotics without proper a doctor’s prescription. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary

Location: 3500 Block of Cecil Avenue
A homeowner on the 3500 block of Cecil Avenue contacted Public Safety Dispatchers to report that a motion sensor has been activated inside the residence via a home surveillance. The unknown suspect(s) pried off a screen and entered through an unlocked window. The suspect(s) ransacked drawers in the master bedroom and stole $200 in cash before fleeing through the rear door. Officers arrived, set up a perimeter and utilized STAR-1 (Santa Clara County Police helicopter) to canvass the neighborhood. The suspect(s) were not located.

Vehicle Theft

Location: 300 Block of N. Winchester Boulevard
An astute security guard on the 300 block of N. Winchester Boulevard noticed a male subject sleeping in a vehicle. The security guard called Public Safety Dispatchers. SCPD confirmed the vehicle was just stolen out of Milpitas. Officers formulated a plan and successfully arrested the subject without incident. A Records check revealed the subject had three felony warrants for his arrest. An inventory search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a shaved key, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Fraud

Location: 3100 Block of San Juan Avenue
Between 1/23/17 and 1/28/17, an unknown suspect contacted an individual on the 3100 block of San Juan Avenue via telephone and convinced the victim to send various amounts of money through Money Gram. The victim sent the unknown suspect approximately $11,000 in total. This investigation is ongoing.
