Milestones – Welcome to Santa Clara – Opinion

Publisher Miles Barber welcomes fans to Santa Clara, home to some of the biggest businesses in the world, great art and food.

We warmly welcome the teams, coaches, and visitors who have come to compete, attend, and cheer at the FIFA events. You have arrived in one of North America’s great cities.

Santa Clara is home to many of the world’s leading companies, with innovations ranging from the first computer chips to the latest AI creations. We are delighted you are here and extend a warm welcome.

While many visitors will focus on the FIFA matches at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara offers much more to see, do and explore.

For openers, did you know the world’s largest company sits right in the heart of Santa Clara? NVIDIA is the world’s first billion-dollar company and occupies several blocks on Scott Boulevard. Close by are numerous well-known high-tech firms that employ thousands of our residents. While we have been known as Silicon Valley, that might someday change to “Santa Clara, the AI Hub” of the world.

If you are interested in the arts, you will want to visit the Triton Museum of Art, located across the street from Santa Clara City Hall. The Triton is one of the state’s premier fine art museums, dedicated to contemporary California artists. With its remarkable architecture, and under the leadership of curator Preston Metcalf, the Triton and its surrounding park, is one of the most beautiful spots in the city.

For a tranquil getaway, the Carmelite convent and its charming garden is just the thing. The convent is more than a century old, and the location has a historical connection to Jack London.

You will want to eat and there are wonderful offerings in Santa Clara. Our restaurants offer plenty of variety, serving up something for every guest.  From international cuisine to all-American favorites, just about any food lover will satisfy their craving.

Of course, you will marvel at the beautiful Levi’s Stadium, home to the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been a terrific addition to the Santa Clara skyline and to our community. Their contribution goes beyond being a major football team. The 49ers and Levi’s Stadium have brought national attention to Santa Clara, and support to our schools, our businesses and our residents.

Minutes from Levi’s Stadium is one of America’s leading universities. You can walk the beautiful campus of Santa Clara University, which is home to the Mission Santa Clara de Asis and the deSaisset Museum of California Art and History. This university has produced several California governors and ranks as one of America’s outstanding schools.

Thank you for your visit to our city and we hope you take advantage of the opportunity to explore our wonderful community while you are here.

Good memories and great travels as you return home with warm thoughts about your visit to that amazing little city … Santa Clara.
