Bicycle Rodeo in Santa Clara

On the morning of June 1, dozens of Santa Clara kids took their bikes to the Santa Clara Police station on El Camino Real for the annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo. Pre K through fifth grade students had their bicycles inspected – brakes checked, tires inflated, alignment looked at, and helmets fitted – before receiving bike safety instruction. They then were given the opportunity to race their bikes through an obstacle course. After everyone had worked up an appetite, the SCPD provided a free barbecue lunch to kids and their families. The event was sponsored by the Optimist Club of Santa Clara in conjunction with the Optimist Clubs of Los Gatos and Cupertino, SCPD, Santa Clara P.A.L. and Santa Clara Rotary.
