Jersey Mike’s Subs Restaurant Comes to Santa Clara

Santa Clara is getting a taste of East Coast flavor with the opening of Jersey Mike’s Subs, a new sub sandwich restaurant at 3937 Rivermark Plaza. At the grand opening on June 4, the restaurant hosted a ribbon cutting, an event attended by community members, including Mayor Jamie Matthews, Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Steve Van Dorn and Vice-Principal of Don Callejon School Pamela Galano. Following the ribbon cutting, the restaurant treated new customers to free sandwiches.

“We make our sandwiches East Coast style, meaning instead of mustard and mayonnaise, we use olive oil and red wine vinegar,” says Cathy Brown, who co-owns this franchise of Jersey Mike’s Subs with her husband, Mike. “Our dough is made from a bakery in New Jersey. We bake our bread fresh in the store all day long.”

Some mouth-watering items on the menu include the turkey breast and provolone cold sub, made with 99 percent fat free turkey; roast beef and provolone cold sub, made with Certified Angus USDA beef, and a grilled pastrami Reuben hot sub, made with sauerkraut.

Not only do Brown and her husband want to serve delicious sandwich subs, they are committed to giving back to the Santa Clara community through their restaurant. They have already raised a few thousand dollars for Don Callejon School.

“We do fundraisers all the time, it’s my way of life,” Brown says. “We are passing out 10,000 coupons for a free regular-sized sub and all we’re asking is that our customers give a minimum of a $1 donation to Don Callejon School.”

This Santa Clara location for Jersey Mike’s Subs is the first of several restaurants Brown and her husband plan to open in Northern California.
